Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Dermaplaning (Standalone).

Dermaplaning is generally safe, but a trained esthetician should assess sensitive, acne-prone, or rosacea skin first. Minor redness or irritation may occur. We perform a consultation and may recommend alternative treatments or a patch test before proceeding for best safety.

Results typically last three to six weeks depending on skin type, hair growth, and skincare routine. Regular maintenance treatments every four to six weeks are recommended to maintain a smooth, bright complexion and optimize makeup application and product absorption.

Dermaplaning does not change hair thickness or follicle structure. Regrowth may appear softer because hairs are trimmed at the surface, not bluntly broken. Coarser terminal hairs are unaffected; treated vellus hair typically grows back the same texture.

You can generally wear makeup immediately after Dermaplaning; many clients enjoy instant application. We recommend fresh, non-irritating formulas or mineral makeup and advise avoiding heavy active ingredients for 24 hours. Always use SPF after treatment to protect sensitized skin.

Avoid retinoids, chemical exfoliants, and waxing for at least three to five days before your appointment. Arrive with clean skin and disclose medications, recent procedures, or active breakouts so we can tailor the treatment safely.

Most clients experience mild redness or sensitivity for 24 to 48 hours that subsides quickly. Rare side effects include irritation or minor abrasions if skin is compromised. Follow aftercare instructions, avoid sun exposure, and use gentle skincare plus SPF to support healing.
